Rachel founded the Ashton Group Theatre in 1997 to develop new writing and improvisation based theatre in Barrow, by for and with children and young people. Before that she was a freelance director working in small scale new writing theatre around the North of England and before that she was a performer working in physical theatre across Britain and Europe. Rachel has a B.A. from Nottingham University and trained as a mime and movement artist in 1980’s London
Phill has been making things up with groups of people since he was 12. Sometimes he writes these things down on behalf of groups and sometimes he makes music to compliment them. At the moment he enjoys telling people where to stand so that they can share their stories.
It was at the Theatre Factory that Karen nurtured her love for all things creative and found the experiences to develop her talents.
She studied Embroidery at Manchester Metropolitan University and specialised in puppet making and theatrical design.
As well as her work with the Theatre Factory, Karen is a keen dressmaker, historian and freelance artist.
After more than 30 years in the Printing Industry, George joined the company on a 6 month project in 2000 - and somehow here we are. Time flies!
Dan keeps the tech cupboards tidy at the Cooke's, he's been with the company for around 10 years and is a part of the senior youth theatre group where he frequently plays an old person.
